MCCC vs. Battesea Ironsides - Saturday 28 June 2005 - Match result - Won

Battersea had won the toss and elected to field. Girish and Mark opened thebatting and were pegged down by some tight bowling from their skipper and a16 year old with a good future in the game ahead of him. Mark was outplaying a super square cut but was well caught. Girish was then partnered byBrian and they saw off the openers to then find themselves facing what couldonly be described as easy pickings!! much to Marks annoyance for gettingout. Brian relished this opportunity and stroke the ball around the groundwith great force(hitting 24 off one over). Brian was out being caught indramatic fashion after a fielder attempted to catch the ball but only pushedit in to the air behind him straight into the hands of another fielder!!Hament then accompanied Girish at the crease where they piled on the runs(girish out for 86 and hament 46). Steve, Andrew, Jess and Keith pushed therun total on and we finally ended up with a massive 263 off 40 overs.To the field we marched with Mark deciding to keep wicket! very few extrasand a catch hee hee, but ended up with bruised hands from excellent fast(and slow) bowling from Andy Allan. All bowlers were yet again excellentwith all getting wickets (opps not Jess this week) Andy, Graham, Tony andSteve... Fantastic display. Fielding once again was of top draw and Brianagain taking two catches deep on the boundary. The team played an excellent well spirited match against a some what weakbut pleasant young Battersea side.Battersea were out for 73 which gave us a massive 190 run victory.Wrote report from memory so if figures are wrong and if I have missed anyoneout or any special moment in the match then I apologise.
